Having now finished ME1 on insanity I can confidently say that ME1 on insanity is a perfect example of enemies with a stupidly high amount of health not equaling difficulty. The only dangerous parts were those dumb mako tunnels, snipers, and rocket drones/troopers. Those were dangerous on normal anyway though.
ME2 takes the cake easily.

The first game without importing some leveled up character. Your weapons don't do any damage and your squad mates are absolutely useless. You literally have to complete many missions entirely on your own. --- "You assume i give a damn. That's cute."

Attention to the 5 people that voted for Mass Effect 3:
Either you are a poor excuse for a gamer and/or you didn't play Mass Effect 2 on Insanity. That is all
