...join up with you after the coup mission, do you ever see them again? Or do they just disappear for the rest of the game?

Never seen again. I think they might email you but I'm not sure.

I don't even understand why the game let that be an option

it's like, "do you want a new squadmate?" "of course I do!"

I think of it as Shepard's way of saying "**** you for Horizon" to the VS without killing them.

It was a good thing to have in the game from a role play perspective. I know that I personally felt that after everything that happened, I would have been pissed enough at them not to let them on.

I still let them on, though
