As I recall all Javik said was that the Zha'til are "as the Geth are to this cycle".
Which doesn't necessarily mean they served the Reapers. More-so they were just the main Organic-Synthetic tragedy in his cycle.
if the Geth were planning on attacking the Reapers, then why would they offer to help the Geth? That doesn't make sense.

No, Javik said the entire line that I quoted. It's right before the one where he says the had to supernova the star to kill them. If you don't believe me put it into google and you'll see people talking about it. The Reapers offered help because the Geth were desperate. After the Quarians blew them up the Geth couldn't do anything to hurt the Reapers, so they went into survival mode and joined them.

"Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it"
The fact that the quarians are not smart enough to realize that there ancestors could'nt defeat the geth when they had their s*** together is proof that they deserve whatever they get.
Also considering the geth joined the reapers because they were afraid of being destroyed shows that they are more than just some machines not a "toaster".

Well, the geth did inadvertently end up showing that they are capable of the same remarkably terrible judgment as any other collection of entities. Nonetheless, I feel there's a marked difference between a network of virtual intelligences that can share experiences to better collaborate and a true A.I. such as EDI.

Of course, I don't expect that everyone will see things the same way I do, but I think this is one of the things the writing staff did well in the series: they're actually making us think and discuss an issue that seems outlandish now but may become a very real debate in the near future.

^This is the only thing I found on Javik talking about the Zha'til. Note he does not once mention the reapers.

You said that the Geth were preparing to fight the Reapers, if that was true, why would they offer to help the Geth? Wouldn't they be content with letting the Geth die if they were going to fight the Reapers?
It goes back to what I said, the Geth are only interested in their own self preservation. they would happily stand idly by as the Reapers harvest the organic races in the galaxy if it ment their survival and continued isolationism.
