Am I the only one who thinks the Batarian Vanguard is as good as the Krogan?

I heard a lot of good things about the Krogan Vanguard. But what about the Batarian Vanguard?

Sure, the ratio of health and shields of the batarian to the krogan is like 3:4 respectively. So the Batarian has less durability. However, the Krogan has a much greater cooldown with Charge, whereas the Batarian suffers no such penalty. So the Batarian can spam Charge faster.

And they both can use an armor effect with 40% damage reduction.

These things considered, isn't the Batarian Vanguard a good alternative to the Krogan Vanguard?

The batarian vanguard is the only vanguard I care for.

I like the Batarian Vanguard just fine, but i do wish that he had Melee Synergy for Charge...

No, he's objectively a better tank than the Kroguard. In fact, he's completely invulnerable for the duration of his heavy melee when you use it straight out of Charge. Plus enemies are often staggered by Blade Armour when they melee you, further increasing his survivability.

Charge is not a very powerful skill damage wise, and the Batarian melee is slower than the Krogan. The utility of the two characters differ greatly, as the Kroguard is a crowd control tank class, the Batarian Vanguard is not.

I set them up differently. Krogan is for melee. Batarian is for weapon damage.

They both Charge. And they both have damage reduction. I would ask why you think they differ greatly, but I think I'd rather not.

I prefer the Batarian personally. I run a weapon damage build and only use his heavy melee for the DR when needed or finishing enemies when my clips empty. That said, I despise Krogans.

Though to be fair, the Batarian has 30 base capacity to the Krogans 50.

There has been some suggestion that the Batarian's Heavy Melee has DR.

Is it really true?

I always thought it was slow and sluggish...
