Invisible turret, you have all my hate.

Blogfaqs etc...

So I had an extra hour before I headed to work. I did what any normal individual would do and attempt a Shuriken only Novaguard Platinum solo on Glacier.

The match started off great, I was being very aggressive going for a quick time and despite alot of close calls I was making it through with no deaths. Wave 3 objective was a hack in the hallway spawn that went off without a hitch with Nova Canceling, no rockets needed. I only had to kite away from the objective once. Wave 6 was an escort that went exceptionally quick.

Fast forward to wave 8 I believe it was. No deaths, 1 missile used, 2 op packs used. I'm just going about the wave like any other when I charge an Atlas where the old basement ammo box would be. I get staggered by a 180 degree turning, through the wall flying rocket by the Atlas only to be instantly downed by a Turret that isn't there. I immediately use a gel to try and get away but by this point I have a Brute on top of me that staggers me again making me a nice juicy target for mr invisible bullet hose. This continues on until I'm down to 2 gels and manage to Charge out of a Phantom synch kill animation up the ramp to safety.

From there, I managed to make it though a rough 4 node objective on wave 10 with no medi-gel or op packs and 1 missile remaining. I then proceeded to cautiously clear the rest of the enemies around the map already basking in the feeling of finally completing my longest running goal, a Novaguard platinum solo. As I'm finishing up, a Phantom rushes me. I Charge to stagger her as I had done dozens of times before in this match. But low and behold, she ignored the stagger and swings her blade across my chest anyways. While I fumble through the stagger animation I get hit by a rocket, a Marauder, and the kitchen sink soon finding myself on the floor. I start smashing down to revive myself before they start piling on my corpse, and thats when I remember, I'm out of medigel and I wasted 4 because of that ****ing invisible turret.

The next few seconds felt like they lasted a life time as I just sat there in stunned silence, feverously hitting A in a vain hope it would make that empty feeling seeping into my heart stop. Alas, my prayers weren't answered, I bled out the floor while that lone Phantom stood over my cooling copse forever mocking me and my struggle to complete my sole remaining goal that keeps me coming back to this game.

I swore I would quit ME3 MP when I completed my one and only platinum solo, with the Novaguard. It looks like you have to deal with me a bit longer.

The fact that you can solo up to Wave 10 Platinum with a Shuriken-only Novaguard speaks for itself...

But really, that sucks. I hope you have better luck next time.

That sucks, but why would you want to quit just because you solo'd platinum?

Just a personal goal. At the time no one had soloed it with the human vanguard and I wanted to go out with a bang by being the first one to do so. Now the game has lost a lot of its charm and I wouldn't 't mind moving onto something else. This would be a good motivator to truely feel like I've 'finished' MP.

The problem with restraining speech is, who gets to set the rules? If it's only okay in a certain time or place, who gets to say what time and what place?

I've never actually had this happen to me, but there was a game against Cerberus where my friend couldn't see Phantoms or Turrets. That was... uncomfortable.

Sorry about your bad luck, though!
