Platinum tips....please?

Don't go into a lobby with Firebase London and blank when thinking of the map. For some reason I started thinking of Vancouver and thought "Eh, this'll be tough but we should do ok"....Firebase London w/Reapers Platinum was horrific. We still got full extraction though. But yeah, Teamwork is what came through for us. We would hold that high bridge, in groups of two at either end with one from each group keeping half an eye on the centre.

Pick a class you enjoy and are comfortable playing. Also don't give a damn about points/kills for you, just focus on helping your team-mates kill their targets as quickly as possible, and keeping each other alive by watching your backs.

What Terry and Pipboy said.

I find the difference in difficulty between Plat and Gold is pretty negligible if you have a good team, but the difference if you're with randoms is ridiculous. Gold with PUGs can be painful enough as it is, but it's usually manageable, but Plat is usually impossible.

Finding a decent looking lobby is hard enough as the amount of under N7100s thinking they're good enough/wanting to be carried is ridiculous. But even decent looking lobbies often end up producing dog turd level players; never gel, never missile, never revive, never obj etc. I can't count the amount of games I've played where by Wave 4 there's a Turian Ghost with Harrier V in last place by like 30k or something equally mind boggling.

My advice is, when you want to play a few games and have time to wait, make a topic on here. Just open a private lobby and make a topic saying you're hosting a game and to leave gamertags if you want an invite. Or alternatively, keep an eye out for other peoples, as there's usually a few posted every day (for Gold and Plat lobbies). You'll make a ton of friends in the process too.

One easy to follow Platinum PUG tip: avoid Collectors like the plague, consider an easy faction like Cerberus/Reapers instead.

Find some dudes with mics (lol, good luck), and convince them to spawn camp Giant with three Adepts and a Volus. It's a lot of fun, goes quick, and everything that approaches that hallway will die from hilarious biotic 'splosions.

Thanks for the advice...I'm a bit afraid of playing with the Gamefaqs community, all you guys seem so good!! I hate being the low man haha. I mean, theres people on here doing platinum speed runs!! I cant even get through it regularly! Plus my manifest isnt to impressive, I believe i have every gun, none of my URs are maxed, i believe the highest is level 5 and thats the Hurricane...

I doubt you're that bad, but even if you aren't as good as a lot of players, you'll catch up quick enough. And speed runs can be easier if done right.

I think i have a 1000N7 rating and 1800ish challenge points. Ive only rescently started to grind the challenges. Idk how else you measure how "good" someone is...even with my low level URs, I'm usually 1 or 2 in scoring on Gold...Platinum, i use all my medigels and ops packs by round 4....its insane

This, so much. I would never have taken the step up to Platinum a few months ago if it wasn't for other members of this forum. If you can get a good squad together, it's actually a lot of fun and not stressful at all.

Also, I wouldn't be worried about doing bad. Most of the great players here aren't going to care if you score low - what matters the most is that you support your squad and not die 20 times every wave. I'm still learning new methods and techniques from other forum members; doing matches with them is the best way to improve your skills.

Maybe if someone hosts a plat lobby tonight (please no collectors!!), i'll join in...I definitely need the help and would LOVE to tackle Platinum! In the Gold lobbys with randoms, I'm always the one to initiate going for objectives, except the escorts...people generally are very helpful with those
