Advice on havoc soldier

I went 46664

Just using HS to set off explosions and to move around. I've used the PPR, harrier, and then a reegar/hurricane combo and I really can't say he has a great weapon set up available. None of those set ups felt like it really meshed well with his abilities.

Use a Lancer; its quite nice with his passives.

Cryo Blast on sight. When facing multiple enemies, Cryo one, shoot at the other, then Havoc Strike the frozen/chilled one.

You play him exactly like the QFE if she didn't have a turret. The Lancer's unlimited ammo, as well as HS I-frames and Stim Packs allow the Havoc to keep up pressure unlike any other weapon-heavy character besides Infiltrators (but even then, there are some situations where Stim Packs > Tactical Cloak for defense).

With a Lancer X, you have plenty of weight to pack something even stronger for bosses should you require. A Lancer X and a Hurricane X/CSMG X should allow for a nice cooldown:

http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#Soldier/TurianHavoc/REKNF/Lancer10AD5AE5/Hurricane10BB5AV5/AssaultRifleRailAmp3/CyclonicModulator4/WarfighterPackage5/

With that build, the Lancer is very nearly as good as the Hurricane, except it has a limitless clip, doesn't require ammo boxes, and doesn't have as much kick.

Hell, you can swap out the Extended Barrel for a Piercing Mod; with that + Cryo Blast, you'll still get full armor mitigation, but only lose a bit of non-armor damage. Then, you wouldn't have to even use the Hurricane at all. And if Phantoms are your problem like you said, take a Talon X w/ ULM/Barrel or an Acolyte w/ ULM/Barrel, like so:

He really is a terrible character. You can either play him like a gimped vanguard or a gimped soldier.

I usually skip Cryo Blast, max shields in Stims, max weapon damage in everything else, and just use HS as an interrupt/stagger or a finisher. You're not gonna get any cryo explosions on him on Gold/Plat since he can't prime on armor, and I find I down enemies faster if I'm not wasting time casting CB anyway.

I see someone constantly suggesting a 66660 build that relies on Stims to keep you alive. I don't recommend it, as if you can't get grenades for some reason (crappy map, teammates took them, etc) you're kinda screwed for survivability, but you play solo all the time, so maybe it would work for you.

Why would I bring lancer and hurricane when i can just use hurricane. I have to hit those ammo boxes for nades anyways. Lancer does almost half the dps of the hurricane.

I tried skipping health, the problem is if you are going to skip health, then you won't be using havoc strike as often, s what was the point?

I will probably skip cryo blast and use a reegar with incendiary ammo. It's too bad bc I try to avoid OP weapons in my builds.

Hurricane has a bad ammo capacity and needs to be reloaded; the Lancer does not. Use your consumables to get nades during a wave, and get nades in between rounds.

Cheat. Havoc is the only character that I fully support using the points glitch on, because he's a hell of a lot more fun when you don't have to skimp on anything.

Youre right, when you compare them weapon by weapon, its not half. But the SMGs get better equipment. The armor pierce barrel doesnt give you a recharge penalty, and the power amp increases power damage. So if the argument is that the lancer is good for casters, I have to seriously disagree, and if you are using the lancer on a weapon platform, why wouldnt you just use the PPR?

Edit: So hurricane inherently does more damage, maybe closer to 25%-30% more damage. You can increase your power damge with the power damage amp. You can get 90% reduction on armor damage without a recharge penalty, this lets you bring incendiary ammo while doing good damage to armor. I think its fair to assume I can get a good 50% more dps using a hurricane

In a team setting:
6/6/4/6/4 or 5/6/4/6/5 with Weapon Damage on HS, full weakening on Cryo, and defensive Stims. An Incendiary Reegar with a Cyclonic and Shocktropper Gear makes him a lot of fun. Still kind of questionable for Platinum though.

For Plat solos:
lol, good luck.

Honestly, he's such a let down. He would have been so much more havocy if Havoc Strike gave some DR and Cryo Blast could prime and trigger like Snap Freeze. Or if he had Electric Hammer instead of Cryo Blast, as you mentioned previously. Or if he was a Vanguard with Charge, Inferno Grenades, and Overload lol
