project phoenix vanguard

ok i started using this guy after using him cursorily before and am loving him even though i normally hate vanguards.

biotic charge gives 40% power damage for a beastly smash. incendiary acolyte = autofire explosion when charging too. follow up with an excellent heavy melee that stuns unshielded enemies. follow with a smash. between charge, heavy melee, and smash there is 0 downtime with high cooldown. decent survivability with shield booster, cyclonic modulator, and charge. once i master this guy ill probably move to power amp and adaptive war amp or geth scanner. i seriously never ever see anyone use this class.

the slayer is still better but this guy is way more fun

I like the Cerb Adept more, personally.

Singularity is (to me) more fitting than Charge, with Lash and Smash.

I do, but I'm new to it and not that good.

Lash is a great power for the Adept. Detonates Singularity from a distance, and you can kill low-level mooks with it.

I've tried extensively to find a build I liked for him, but they always fell short due to the conflicting cooldowns. Smash just has terrible synergy with Charge. The ex-Cerberus has less tools to stay alive than say the Slayer or the Drell so your going to need to be using Charge just as often, if not more often to stay alive. This of course, massively cuts into or completely eliminates your time spent using Smash. That's without even going into the fact that the dps you'll be getting with Smash is already pretty low.

I've given up on the Ex-Cerberus and written him off as the worst, or second worst Vanguard. Arsenal spoke highly of his recharge build though. Perhaps he will have some input.

I didn't use the recharge build. I use the melee build, which is the only proper way to play him. He becomes a human vanguard with a melee in lieu of Nova, so he gets to keep his shields and does the exact same thing. Ex-Cerberus is the best vanguard, but everyone is too much of a chicken to try my build, or they aren't good enough to pull it off.

I like this character because smash is just an awesome looking power, but I feel like he needs every rank in shields and health because he's just so squishy.

Currently I'm running 3/6/6/5/6, which I did not think about the increased power damage coming out of charge when I went with this build.

I'm curious. What is the recharge build? I may try it.

I've been experimenting more with your melee build and so long as I host I can pull it off. Also remember that your last evo of fitness gives you an additional 30% power damage bonus for 20-30 seconds when you kill an enemy with a heavy melee. So that, coupled with BCs 40% damage bonus makes smash much more powerful when you do use it.

I'm curious, do you mind sharing your build? I like playing the phoenix vanguard, but its a bold claim to say he's the best vanguard. Not saying your wrong or anything, just my opinion.

Well I mean obviously it's my opinion that he's the best vanguard. He isn't my favourite, though. I just feel I can do the most damage with him

Build is easy enough:

Charge - Radius, Power Synergy, Barrier
Lash - Skip
Smash - Force and Damage, Force and Damage, Armour Damage
Passive - Damage and Capacity, Power Damage, Weapon Weight.
Fitness - All Melee

Then you want to use a shotgun with the Omniblade attachment. I usually use the Disciple since it's the lightest. It's rare when I fire it.

Gear and Equipment:

Juggernaut Shield
Strength Enhancer III
Power Amplifier III/IV
