something about community and friendship and playing games

i can't think of a better topic title right now

so most of us have been playing either continuously or on and off almost 2 years now, not counting the time in the beta. some of us have been on these boards for a lot of that time, kind of crazy when you think about it. did anyone really expect anything like what's happened to, well, happen once they bought mass effect 3? i know i know it's not really some major big event we're all just a bunch of people playing the same game and posting on a message board.

all this kind of hit me when i was playing with medic the night before he was going off for good (at least for now) and we started talking about this. just feels a bit surreal to me. i never expected this whole community to come together and i never expected the game, boards, and people here to have such an influence on me. definitely not what i imagined when i pre-ordered the game back whenever you could put in pre-orders.

i'm not really sure what i'm trying to say here or what the point of this post is because right now it probably just looks like a bunch of stupid ass ramblings but i think what i'd like to say to finish it all of is thank you.

thank you to everyone who made this community what it is, whether you're still here or not. a lot of you don't like me, some of you do, and the feelings are mutual. but personal feelings aside, we've built this just tremendously helpful, friendly, and great community together and i'd like to think it couldn't have been done without every one of us giving our own personal flavor to the mix. some of you are still going strong playing the game, some of you have moved on to greener pastures. whatever the case may be, i'd just like to say again -- thank you.

Cheers mate. Have a italian soda on me. Or a Murphy's stout. Or.. Chocolate Malt Shake. They're amazing.

It's true. If you'd told me pre-release just how far/long/strong *heehee* the community would go/live/be I'dve been shocked and a non-believer.

If you had told me in August 2012 that I would end up playing ME3 MP with people from this board almost consistently until early January 2014, I would've laughed in your damn face...

But seriously, I get what you're saying. This is a pretty awesome community, isn't it? Yeah, we have our arguments and whatnot, but the fact that we've stuck it out for nearly two years now is kind of cool. And there are still people here that play the game on a regular basis. I'm at a point right now where my interest in playing the MP is low due to all my other priorities in life, but I still love popping into the forums and dropping my two cents on things.

I'd like to thank each and every one of you as well, even the ones that I never really associated with or never got a chance to do matches with. It's been a pleasure, folks... and to be honest, I don't see it ending anytime soon, actually. The board is still pretty active considering it's been a full year since the last MP DLC was released.

it's also gotten to the point where people still play with each other even if they aren't playing mass effect 3. i know for awhile the flavor of the month was borderlands 2. goes to show how strong a community is when you still play with the people even though you really don't have to.

speaking of: i see that this world of tanks game just came out for xbox and apparently it's a pretty heavy team based game. i'm going to try it out if anyone wants to play

Crazy, isn't it? A bunch of strangers become friends after one of the biggest gaming series finale debacles, through an additional game mode which was said to go belly up in two months time giving way to a server waste land. And yet, here we are. Still friends. Despite how we get at each others throats, tease one another, and Bioware's shortcomings with the finale. And in the end, it doesn't even matter, because the one element to this game no one thought would be successful, brought together and formed a group of friends on this board no one had the foresight to see.

You're more liked than you think, Ryan. It's always been a pleasure. Happy Valentines Day to you and everyone on this board. Y'all are missed. See you all once again come May. Now go have freaky space sex for me.

I'm not into tanks, but I will be binging off of ME3 MP and Injustice: Gods Among Us this summer, if you want to play either.

yeah, you too. i feel like i'm cheating you out of something leaving it as simple as that but that's really all that needs to be said

i probably won't ever touch me3 again, that's just how it is. the only one who has been able to bring me back to it is medic. as for injustice, it's probably cheap enough for me to go get now. i have a $25 gift card but i think i'm going to save that for when the new PvZ game hits since it's supposed to be a bit cheaper as is on release

It makes sense to me. Certain audiences gravitate towards RPGs. They're usually intelligent, social, and enjoy discussions and debates.
