Game keeps freezing up?

I got this game tonight, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. Anyways, almost immediately after I accepted the first quest outside of the building you start in in the Guardian's zone, the game froze up and the sound repeated. I closed the game and restarted, and played fine for about 5 minutes before the same thing happened.

Anyways, I turned off AA and Anisotropic since I heard they have issues with ATI cards, and made a new character and played up to the first rift. After freezing at the army before you step in that circle of light, the game froze again. Restarted, and then walked into the rift and attacked something and the game froze.

Right now, I just recovered off the client and I'm currently logged in, but I'm not sure if it'll happen again. Anyone know what might be causing it? It runs fine when it actually is running.

Could be an overheating issue, they seem fairly common.

I managed to get through a rift by turning my settings down a little, but then the game froze about 10 minutes after.

My temperature is only getting to around 52 degrees, which doesn't sound like it'd be hot enough to be considered overheating. Maybe something just isn't optimized with the game right that's giving my computer problems? I've never had this problem with any other game.

I play around with that temp now problem. Try turning down your settings even more TC.

Any suggestions on specific settings I should tone down? I could put everything on Medium but I don't get why I should have to if I can run this game great on high settings. If there was one thing in particular I could turn down that might make it easier to fix things.

before you turn your settings down. Try to open up your case and dust it out. clean the fans. make sure all the fans are working and if you have the knowledge, reapply some new thermal compound to your CPU. I'm sure its probably been a while since youve done it if ever.

52c isnt that hot at all depending on your processor and case.

Your card running at 52c with a load like Rift is actually pretty good. Might be your CPU overheating or a memory issue. More likely CPU but you never know. Next time you get dropped from the game immediately check your GPU temp and see if it spiked over 80c.

Post your computer specs to help out more

52c might be kinda for some proccessors. But for a video card, 52c while full load in a game is like ice cold.

Definatly get a can of air and spray around. Obviously turn the computer off. When you spraying around fans and such just hold them still so they dont spin from the air.

I didn't think it was that bad, I built this computer for Christmas so I've only had it for like 3 months. I dusted it out a few days ago but a speck got into the processor fan that I wasn't able to get out. I'll open it up in a bit but I haven't had any problems other than Rift.

My specs are the following:

MSI 870S-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard (if that really matters)
XFX Radeon HD 5670 1GB graphics card
Antec BP550 Plus 550W Power Supply
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz
4GB of RAM
