Updating the browser (Finally) and date/time fixes apparently
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/02/07/ps3-system-software-update-v4-10/ Hi, everyone. We are releasing a new system software update (v4.10) for PlayStation 3 today that will include a few minor changes that we want to make you all aware of. First off, once you download the new system software, you will be asked to accept a change to our Terms of Service. In an effort for more unity between PlayStation Network (PSN) and other Sony Entertainment Network services, your “PSN Account” will now be named “Sony Entertainment Network Account.” Please note that this change is one in name only and will not change the PSN that you know and love. You’ll still play games online, still have access to the latest downloadable games and add-ons, and still experience a wide variety of movies, sports and music across PSN. With this system software update (v4.10), we’ll also be updating the PS3 Internet Browser with improved display speed. tl;dr - PSN -> SEN. Faster internet browser. --- Phosphorus? but I don't love the playstation network so that note is lieing. --- i dont need or want credibilty. - Unceremonius You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist
Does anyone else get pathetically slow download rates when updating PS3 firmware/game updates? -_- I've had some updates take me as long as 5+ hours to download and no, I'm not exaggerating at all. It's not my internet either, I have 29 MB/s download, 11 MB/s upload. Everyone I know in Arizona that has a PS3 has the exact same problem. It's like Sony skimps on Arizonans and puts the worst possible servers out here and wont spend the money to add some more even though the servers are clearly maxed out... I've had this problem since I got my PS3 btw. It really pisses me off that they can't fork out a little extra money to fix such a huge problem. I'm sitting at 25% right now, and I started downloading it like 5 minutes before I made this thread(which was more than 10 minutes ago). All for stupid ass web browser update that I will NEVER even use?(My computer is hooked up to the same TV as my PS3) -_- F*** Sony and their ridiculous mandatory updates. All I wanted to do was sit down and play a couple matches. This is so pathetic. --- PSN - xwageslavex

But it's annoying that I even have to go through the trouble just for a web browser that I don't need, use, or even want. Why make updates like this mandatory to play a game like COD? It doesn't affect COD at all. I don't see the mentality in making this update mandatory. And practically every single update is like this too. Just adding a few unimportant features, while completely ignoring the features that practically their whole fanbase has been begging for for YEARS now such as Cross Game Voice Chat or custom music playlists for all games... or hell, how about updating the slow as hell XMB/PS3 operating system? Have you ever tried checking your PSN messages for game invites while you're in the middle of a game? It's not even worth it. I don't even check my messages or accept invites half of the time due to this very reason. Why don't they fix THAT crap instead of fixing a stupid web browser that a tiny portion of PS3 owners even care about? --- PSN - xwageslavex
From: xMessiahbolical | #007 Because none of that crap can be fixed, obviously. They'd have to remake the whole OS. --- Aww, I love when trolls develop feelings and become self-aware. - Ark is Back
Sony already came out and was like "yeah cross game chat for all" and then like 5 software updates later "never mind added new features would be work and were lazy so, no cross game chat for all".

They'd have to remake the whole OS. Good. Remake the whole OS then. Microsoft has done it multiple times, why can't Sony? The PS3 OS has been pretty much the same ever since the PS3 first came out, that's nearing 6 years now... practically ancient when it comes to operating systems. It's time to start fresh and give the PS3's OS a REAL upgrade. It's obvious the PS3 needs it, if so many of these problems still exist after all of these years with the current OS. Sony needs to get their priorities straight. Work on fixing what really matters, and stop forcing these useless little updates down our throats that take more time and effort than updating a video game console ever should. --- PSN - xwageslavex |
