My local GameStop has just confirmed that there will be no midnight release for Killzone 3. The last midnight launch they had was for Fable 3. Halo: Reach was the one before that...

Yes, that's what I'm guessing. A friend of mine that works at GameStop said that LittleBigPlanet 2 had surprising pre-order numbers. Of course there was no midnight launch for it..
I wonder what numbers they need before they do a midnight launch... --- Omnipotence: "God creates an infinitely heavy stone and drops it on the person who posed the question about lifting it."

I believe the GameStop by my house said they need at least 45 preorders to do a midnight release on any game, and even if they meet those numbers they still often do not do midnight releases. Midnight releases cost the employer money, as they have to have workers stay after hours, usually resulting in overtime.

It's had pretty low pre-orders over all I know MVC3 has more pre-orders and last I heard Bulletstorm has about the same number on the PS3 as KZ3.

We are usually told when we have our midnight releases because the company has to assign hours to a store for them. They can't just do it without corporate saying so. Number of pre-orders does not matter.

might be easier for them to do a midnight release when its on both or even all 3 consoles

Its only low because people are sick of Gamestop and their idiot employees. I got mine from Amazon and I never go to Gamestops.
