Guwange
Flawed Port? (screen options)
Back To: Board List | Topic List | Topic Archived
I've heard from people who use 4:3 Tated TVs that there is no way to properly fill the screen without loosing much of the image... So it's got forced wallpaper and/or letterbox just like the awful Deathsmiles 2X port (arcade mode)??? This is beyond ridiculous, if DDP-DFK has is problem I might have to get a widescreen TV which I really really don't want to do :( --- we... must... save... this... doomed... world...
great, tell everone its a bad port so people wont buy it and cave games will never come out outside of japan. good move for future cave releases.. --- AWAITING : Guwange / Radiant Silvergun / Raiden Fighter Aces / Deathsmiles / Muramasa 360 HD
thanks for the info Goldilox. I was thinking about getting this game, but now I am not because of the info you provided I dont care how cool Cave is, I'm not letting them off the hook this time! --- Know what ruins gaming? extremely greedy DLC spouting corporations and insanely picky, never satisfied so called gamers....read whiners and haters. -WW Kiba
Ikaruga_DC posted... I agree with this ^ altho it is an issue it'd probably be best to not discourge non-cave fans from purchasing this if we really want to see more titles such as ESP Ra. De. and the dondonpachi games localized. I'm sure true cave fans won't let this get in the way of them purchasing it regardless of the forced aspect ratio.
I just bought this game, and there are TONS of screen options. You can stretch and zoom or even duplicate the play screens. It's not very clear at first, but you just press A in the Screen options where it says "Preset 1" or whatever.
I don't know if it's a bad port, but I do know that it has a flaw which I think is important to let people know about. It only effects people who want to play the game fullscreen on a Tated 4:3 ratio TV, about 20% of the screen is unused regardless of wallpaper options and zoom. Cave (or 5pb) should not get away with this as many of their fans use Tated 4:3 displays and expected the game to cover the screen. This was IMO a big mistake and although I'm sure the game is still fun, it is not what I'd call a good port. Sorry if the truth hurts, but if Cave wants to be successful with overseas customers then they should know how to get it right the first time - how long have they made vertical games... --- we... must... save... this... doomed... world...
It's OK to call people you admire and respect out on screwing up when they screw up. In fact, it's much more constructive than pretending everything they do is OK or overlooking their bad behavior.
It took me to realize what "Tated" meant :-). (Rotated ;-) I have a widescreen TV that I can't rotate so I have no idea how the screen options affect you people that do rotate.
Ok, I just messed around with the screen options and you can rotate the screen just fine! In fact, this game probably has the best screen options I've ever seen in a 2D game like this! It's under Help&Options->Settings->Screen Settings->Extra Display Press A to select and change your Preset screen setting. "Game Window" is the main gameplay screen, and the others can display anything you want from the main screen. Press A to select and edit the Game Window. You can use the controller buttons to move, rotate, or scale the screen. Or, press A to get to the edit screen and fine tune the screen settings manually. There, you can change the scale, rotation, and position of the screen, and you can also turn on Smoothing, if you don't like the sharper image. You can change a bunch of other screen options there. Hope that helps you people! And buy the game! We need more releases like this in the U.S.!
^Yes, I'm aware of what options there are for screen settings. There is no option for displaying the game on a Tate 4:3 aspect ratio in proper full screen. You can zoom, but there are still borders on all 4 sides leaving 20% of the screen empty - this is the problem people are complaining about. If you are using a Tate 16:9, then you have borders on the top and bottom which is normal because the game is meant for 4:3 - so why can't it be full screen on 4:3 Cave, WHY?!?!? If you think this game has a lot of settings you haven't played any of Cave's other games for the 360, the allow FAR more customization. To the point where no matter what type of TV or monitor you have, you should be able to get it nearly perfect. People who say, "it's only $8 who cares", well it means a lot to me. I only play shooting games (most of which are vertical screen orientation), they should fill the screen - no questions asked! I have bought every console game Cave has released in the past 10 years and the last 2 games have had this ridiculous problem (Deathsmiles 2X being the other one, Arcade mode should fill the screen, but it is minimized with big black borders on all 4 sides). This is a bad trend that started and if DDP-DFK has this problem I'm going to loose it! LOL <sigh, I should stop now> --- we... must... save... this... doomed... world... |
