Need help in 1rst Temple on the DLC?

Started playing this game a couple of weeks ago at the recommendation of a friend. Really like.Sorry I am horrible with names. I added the DLC and started playing it along with my MS. I'm stuck in the 1rst temple on the DLC getting the last item. Its the last room on the left before the exit/entrance. As soon as I grab the artifact needed The doors close and I am locked in. A Gargoyle comes to life in the middle think it is called a Jaded Gargoyle. It kills my companion almost instantly. The room is so small it gets me pretty quick and so far haven't damaged it much. The item is the last needed to continue the DLC MS line. As I have done all other sidequests up to this point. Am I missing something that needs to be destroyed in the room to lower the gargoyles defenses. Note I'm playing as the ranged chick and use the flame specialist girl the most for my companion. Left out and leveled more in MS of DS-III (Just finish saving queen so have to go back to ODO). Going back to DLC to respec and so want to finish it before I finish DS MS. Tips appreciated.

beat this DLC last night,

no trick button or lever or anything
if your that ranged chick just move and shoot and doge some more and have that ULT.move that heals or the one that boost your DEF waaay up

Side note: you might wanna go off and find some better equipment too....(theres ALOT of good-overpowerful-gamebreaking stuff in this DLC) and you might wann go back to the church and redo your skill points...



EDIT: whats your lvl? and whats parters items?

Thanks tried it again last night and still not much better results. I'm maxxed at Level 35.

After reading your posts I think my equipment level may not be high enough. I used the ultimate defense abillity but enemies still damage me significiantly. Had hard time with daeva chick also but at least I could see damage on her. I may need to invest in some of the better stuff at the stores. My armor rating is only around 250 I do believe. Question can you go back to DLC after mainstory is completed? I'm in the Spire and just finished saving prisoners in the Dungeon. But made a extra save just in case that would allow me to go back to DLC if needed?

you can go back after the spire boss fight.......but!
after the boss fight you go into a causeway...there you can go to the DLC for any last minute stuff but if you continue the main storyline you'll go past the point of no return (the game will point this out once your there)

(you might want to save the thief too because he has much better items for sale after you beat the boss)

Sidenote: if you’re maxed and still losing you might want to relocate your skills with the fountain in the DLC)
