3DS won't charge anymore

My 3DS has charged fine until today. I usually leave it asleep rather than off when it sits on the charger but today I noticed it was out of battery and when I plug in the charger I don't get any charge. When I try to turn the 3DS on I get a quick flashing red light which I'm guessing indicates an empty battery.

Is this more likely a problem with my charger or with my actual console? And if it's a problem with my console can I send it to Nintendo to get fixed?

yes you have to send it to nintendo for repair 1800-255-3700 it will probably be free because the system comes with a 1 year warranty out of box i believe.

Try another charger before sending to nintendo.

The charging light may not be coming on. I know for a while the light wouldn't go off at all. Have you let it sit on the charger for a while before turning it on again? (try at least 60 mins charge)

How are you charging it TC? By cradle or simply connecting it to the system?

All right I'll take everyone's advice. Thanks. Also should I get a Nintendo charger or 3rd party charger?

I've been charging by cradle, but when the issue first popped up I switched to a direct connection to the system... no dice.

Before calling nintendo / buying new charger try out a few other things first.

1. Check connections/cables/plugs
2. Check contacts aren't dirty
3. Determine if its the charger (ie; try it on another 3DS if you can)
3a. Try another powerpoint / wallsocket
3b. Try your 3DS with a different charger

Yeah it's plugged in haha. I totally thought that was gonna be my issue at first.

I've also tried different wall sockets to no avail. Luckily enough, a buddy of mine also has a 3DS so I'm gonna see if his 3DS is able to charge on my charger and if mine is able to charge on his.
