Does it play regular DS games in 3D?

This would be theoretically possible, but I don't know whether they'll actually do it.

PC games can be 3D regardless of programming, though it gives you a headache watching a big screen up close with glasses. It doesn't, by necessity, require the game to be "programmed in 3D". All polygon-based games are programmed in 3D, if you really want to be technical.

Anyone who actually knows something and isn't making things up seen anything?

Because the 3DS is a completely new handheld, not just another DS clone. It has more power, a new analog stick, a different OS that can use wireless in sleep mode, a 3D camera, a front facing camera, higher resolution screens (which change the amount of processing power it takes to run a game), and the list will get bigger as we hear more, I'm sure.

still not proving anything if a DS game could be in 3d still they would keep on making DS game's and not waste time by making 3DS game's

Beside's DS game's are coded and the 3D is coded into the 3DS game's and not into the DS game's
That's why they are making 3DS game's becaus those are meant for 3D

Some devs have already stated they got a chance to play some classic NES games in 3D. Captain_HammerX is correct. The 3D works by displaying 2 images, in between each other so to speak. Each of our eyes only pick up certain scan lines, which creates the effect.

So in a way, they don't have to program anything extra. Now, in order to add more immersion, they will have to alter the game. Like placing objects where they weren't before, or say for instance, in the new OoT theres an item hidden behind a rock that wasn't in the 64 version.

Why "waste time" making PS3 games when people still play PS2? Why "waste time" making Wii games when people still have Gamecubes? Why "waste time" making DS games when people can can play GBA games on them?

Because it's a completely new console with many new abilities, just not the same thing with better graphics/motion control/2 screens.

Probably won't happen simply because not all ds games would work in 3d. The fact is games that are coded in 3d space, like mario 64, could work in 3d, but any 2d games could confuse the system, or maybe not. I guess there might be some kind of check the system could do to see if a game was done in 3d. Hmm... Maybe?
