So let me understand this... just by changing the routers SSID and disabling security it will pick up as Nintendo Zone?

Yup. The only thing that makes a "Nintendo Zone" is an internet connection named attwifi, apparently.

Actually no.. it involves a mac. I don't understand any of that and I don't have a mac if its actually required.

A mac isn't required. All you need is a Wi-Fi spot with the SSID "attwifi". A mac just makes it easy to broadcast an internet connection called "attwifi", that's all. You could easily just rename your own wireless router and change its security settings.

You don't need a Mac. You can use a router, but your wireless network would be extremely vulnerable.

Alright so say this works do you think it would be possible to access the Japanese Nintendo Zone?

You would have to find the SSID of the Japanese Nintendo Zone Wi-Fi hotspot.
