Does that mean they'll...stick OUT more? >_>

Yes! Take a hint from the original GBA and DS, Nintendo, and make the thing nigh-indestructible. None of that shoulder button and hinge crap from the Lite (and SP has booooo shoulder buttons).
Unyu! Unya!

Seriously agree with the crappy Lite hinges, My phat DS has oulived 2 other DS Lites I have.
That thing is a tank, Ive had to replace both top screens on my 2 ds lites. I will buy first model 3DS and stick with it.

When I was a kid, my Gameboy Pocket was accidentally put in the washing machine. It still worked perfectly!

In contrast, one of my DS Lite's shoulder buttons became unresponsive within weeks, even though I hardly played the damn thing.

They just don't make 'em like they used to...

The DS Phat was plenty durable. But yeah, the Lite/DSi's hinges are an issue. My mom and my brother have gone through 3 or 4 consoles between the two of them.
