Graphics...

The graphics are a little bit below that of the Gamecube. A bit disappointing, really. It breaks the Nintendo portable trend; the GBA being slightly better than the SNES, the DS being slightly better than the N64, yet the 3DS isn't even as good as the Gamecube, graphics-wise. Oh well. Still looks cool.

1. You need to play GCN games again.

2. The DS was not as powerful as the N64. It was about on par with the PSone.

3. A lot of the 3DS' power is going toward rendering the 3D.

This.I don't know why people are saying the DS is more powerful than the n64.

Lol at the statement that this is at ps2 level. The 3ds looks like it is even more powerful than the gamecube. Maybe it's in between the gamecube and the wii but more closer to the wii similar how the psp was in between the ps1 and ps2 but was closer to ps2.

I think they say it because Mario 64 DS looked better than the original game, though that was more due to better textures than more polygons. Plus Mario 64 was the first N64 game and, as a result, hardly taxed the system. We never saw anything on the DS that matched the 3D that the N64 was doing by its second year. In fact, developers came to appreciate fairly quickly that the DS was not suited to 3D worlds, and so stuck either to 2D games or 2.5D.

If the 3DS can do Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3 graphics, then ok, then it's on par with the Wii. If not, then, sorry to say, no.

We don't know the specs so we can't say so right now.

Based on the MGS3D Screenshots, I'd say about Wii level.

I imagine Bethesda's Quality Testing Department a big, dusty room filled with cobwebs, and a chimp wearing a Fez banging on the keyboard of a single computer...

Accordinjg to many sites, the graphic capabilities is somewhere between the XBOX (released in 2001) and the Wii, released in 2006.

I wonder about the sound quality and if it will have better 3D sound. Seems like Nintendo recycled the D-pad nad buttons from the DS. I hope the 3DS has it's own sound chip and a filter, texture filter, that was missing in the DS, but was in the N64 (made a HUGE difference in many games, especially when the camera is close).
