Will 3DS be region locked?

And will it be able to play normal DS/ DSi games? I hope so because im excited by the idea of importing both pokemon black and a japanese 3DS in the fall...

im pretty sure the dsi was region locked. of course that may have just been the store.

Hoping it isn't either, but late DSi-enchanced games were region locked, meaning Nintendo could be intending to region lock all future games.

I really don't see why it would be. Outside of games you download, Nintendo's handhelds have never been region locked...

...Although why on earth would you import it when it will likely be out here by Christmas?

If Japan gets first dibs on this it will be an instant import. I don't care about how much more it will cost. I want this puppy ASAP!

I can read Japanese so that isn't a problem for me and are we even sure that it will be out by christmas?
