Devs: "3DS capability well beyond Wii, approaching 360/PS3"

Now, how true this is...I don't know, but I don't know if they'd outright lie like that:

The graphics look on par with (or even better than) the PlayStation 2 version of Snake Eater developers told us prior to the debut of the 3DS that the hardware is well beyond Wii and approaching 360/PS3 capabilities with what the system can do, and when you see this demo in action you can see why they would have said that.

Until we can play the 3DS, it's advertising to -gasp- sell their product. Look at every new game system and what they say about it. They won't say "Ehh, it's not as good as the current gen, in fact, it's a bit below the current gen standards but you should buy our product anyway."

I think right now it would be hard to decide really. Most people viewing the system may be overwhelmed by the surprising 3D effects and see the graphics as better than they might actually be.

Most impressions so far have been quite pleased with the 3D effect. That alone is a huge point of consideration when viewing graphics.

If we are to believe the 3D hype, then even Wii graphics or a little below Wii graphics can be seen as well beyond what we actually see on the Wii.

I think when we actually SEE gameplay and not blown-up screens, we will be more impressed.

Screenshots can never fully show what a game looks like. Plus, once devs fully figure out the technology of the 3DS, we can expect some great looking games

Well, there's already a vid of MGS3, and Icarus looked pretty good for a launch title.

I guess. But hey, most games that I've thought looked great on a computer screen have looked even better when I actually played them...

That's just your perception. Someone like me may share a similar opinion when I say that a still picture of a beautiful enviroment is much different then actually playing a game. It also depends what game. Most games can keep the graphics appealing unless you were to really look at the game. For example, FF 7 looked good for its time but looking at it now, we laugh.

Well yeah. I never said the games look crappy. They look PHENOMENAL for a handheld. But I'm just saying that once we see it in front of us, I think we will go through at least 5-6 pairs of pants.

Well...yea that's because technology has developed exponentially since then....
