Satoru Iwata claimed that Apple was now the company's main competitor...

For handhelds, and not Sony.

I don't get why he made such a claim, because in this article

they say that one of Apple's new partnerships is with Farmville. Is that really something to be worried about? Farmville is barely a game. Solitare is a much better game. I think people are giving the iPhone too much credit, if that is all we really have to look out for.

Your comparison of Farmville not being a game is, curiously, much akin to the comparison that Sony and Microsoft made of Wii not being a video game console.

Alundra is the best top-down Zelda game since Link to the Past.
Darksiders is the best 3D Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.

farmville + (150000+) apps

The iPhone has some nifty apps but it won't replace a video game system for me.

Well maybe, but there's little to no content in Farmville.

farmville + (150000+) apps

But how many of those apps have the depth that DS games do? How many are as engaging (and I don't mean just puzzle games being addicting, I mean like a story, characters with backgrounds, etc.)?

Mobile gaming and Handheld gaming will be seperate, sort of like PC gaming and console gaming.

Apparently, Mr. Iwata doesn't see it that way, and instead sees them clashing.

Maybe the iPad is the main contender since it has motion censors.

R.I.P Team Fortress 2 updates on the Xbox 360.

Age cartridges are over; maybe Nintendo is realizing that its greatest assets are its "core" games, not its casual ones.

Good.

I don't know why. iPhone is a phone 1st. And not a true gaming handheld. Going after iPhone is like Nintendo going after the PC market.
