Since the console has to render everything twice for a 3d image, could you not have games that have double the amount of polies but only render the screen once, doubling the GFX power?

Don't know about double, but if a developer completely ignored the 3D aspect, they'd have a lot more power to work with.

There would be a bump... a little larger than the difference from GCN to Wii

something like PS2 to Wii, but looking at GoW on PS2... what does that mean?

I doubt many developers will pass up the 3D aspect.
You know Nintendo's a beast when Sony has a great conference and they poop on them with 2 games - NitemareNS
