Graphics comparison 3DS vs Gamecube

Seriously, i'm sick of these trolls, so i'm reposting this so i can bump it as much as necessary

I'm baffled some are still comparing it to the GCN. Look at the effects this GPU pushes! There is basically one game that did something remotely simillar and that was Rebel Strike after they basically hacked into the hardware. The 3DS may not be more powerful, but it is capable of a lot more graphically than GCN could ever dream of. Compare REmake character models and lighting effects to those of the RE3DS interactive demo rendered in real time and this is a completely fair comparison seeing how the old RE's did prerendered backgrounds and had close to no AI in small environments with a fixed camera, and very few characters on screen. Basically the same environment (or even easier to render due to the fixed camera) as the 3DS demo.

Just look and open your eyes. This was a Gamecube SHOWPIECE:

Now look at this: 3DS rendered in real time:

3DS has a smaller resolution, better modern GPU, 3D effect... so will easily "look" better than GCN or Wii without necessarily having to be more powerful.

Kid Icarus and MGS look way better than some GC games like: Sonic DX, SSBM, Pokemon XD, Naruto CoN 2, etc.

Sure, but this is a top Gamecube game vs the top of 3DS for now, both rendered in real time in comparable circumstances. So a direct and fair comparison.

Well I guess some GC games had some really great graphics:

*Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess*

yup, that was also a showpiece title by Nintendo, 5 years into the lifecycle. Compare it to their spaceworld 2000 zelda demo.

it DOES NOT look better then wii.
Look better then GC? Yes
Look better the PS2? Yes
But not the wii, its too jagged(that can be fixed though) and can't possible have more details than the wii

There's two things graphics relies on in looking good or not. There is the ability (or power) of the system and the ability of those who make the graphics. The latter have improved quite a lot since the Gamecube times and if a similar to Gamecube level-ish thing was released today we'd get better graphics on the tech demos.

That said there are still many ways to get something more from it. Though it definitely helps that people can make better models and textures these days. They're not developing with completely unseen technology.

I agree with TC.

That we know of so far. Give developers a couple years to really start tapping into the 3DS's power.
