I will officially ALWAYS carry a 3DS with me. And with this bit of new, I get the feeling that Nintendo is hiding even more pwnsome news. Canada is even closer to Nintendo's grasp...

This thing will be in my pocket at all times.

At. All . Times.

I wonder, can you increase the internal memory in any way?

awesome news.

i expect that the transfer of the cart applies a level of drm to the data that means it can only work on that one 3ds.

how much memory is in the thing will be interesting. seeing as carts can be up to 2GB in size, i cant believe that theres going to be multiple gigs of storage internally. like to be wrong though.

Maybe they're going to utilize the SD slot for this.

A class 6, 8GB Micro SDHC costs only $20-ish.

A class 6, 16GB Micro SDHC costs about $70(I bought one for $60).

8 gig of internal wouldn't be that expensive, unless the internal memory used in the 3DS is in a different form. Or maybe I don't know what the hell I'm talking about : )

Nintendo is going to buy Canada with the money they make from the 3DS

If this is true, and I won't hold my breath until official announcement from Nintendo, then I can only see two ways of this working.

If a game is installed to a system it locks the game card so it can not be used on any other 3DS until the game has been uninstalled from the system it is installed on. Otherwise what would prevent you from buying Pokemon Ravishing Ruby / Stunning Sapphire editions, installing to system, then selling the games back to Gamestop immediately after.

Periodically and randomly require you to insert the game cart for the game you wish to play if installed on your system to confirm you still own the game. If you can't insert the game you will be denied the ability to play the game until you can insert it into your system again.

The second option is kinda stupid, but it's a possibility.

No saves on cartridges anymore? That's a negative. I liked being able to use multiple systems. Not to mention silly online save files locked onto the 3DS. If I want a new system I need to contact Nintendo to transfer?

I don't see it happening. I can barely see any room to put such a thing in the system anyway.

Do you have a Wii? There's a Data Management screen where all of your concerns become nonexistent.

While a "software install" option sounds ludicrous, due to piracy and other things mentioned above, the save data is good. You can put it on an SD card, and easily upload or download gamesaves to your computer. Or, you can trade in a game, but maybe one day pick it back up for nostalgia... Oh look, your New Game+ is still here! Nothing is stopping you from using multiple systems. In fact, this is enhancing that want.
