I was hoping that the screens would fit together when opened to make one big screen if devs wanted it. Not sure how practical this would be. But I was hoping for the gap to go away.

Not really. There weren't enough games that utilized the screens as one and with one screen being touch and the other being 3D and larger it might not work out quite right.

I'm not too concerned about the gap, but I'm really not keen on the fact they are such different sizes; it sort of looks like they've taken 2 DS's, cut them in half and then stuck the odd halves together.

The design isn't finalised yet, wait until it is before you complain about stuff like gaps between screens.

So basically you wanted it to look like an ipad or some kind of mini flat panel tv?
No thank you that would make it really hard to fold up and carry around.

They will never be used as one screen again. It doesn't work with a different aspect ratio and the 3D effect must be off.

It would look worse with them closer together for no additional gain.
