Does Anybody Else Find the Use of the Word, "3D" in Game Titles Again Weird?

Around 1993-1998, many games with "3D" graphics used the word 3D in the title to obviously state the fact that the games transitioned to 3D.

For example, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, Sonic 3D Blast, Earthworm Jim 3D, Army Men 3D, etc...

Am I the only finding it odd that we're using the word 3D in video game titles all over again but meaning something else?

I just like the fact that it might encourage developers to put games with 3 on the 3DS

MGS3DS already did it. Let's get Devil May Cry 3DS, MegaMan Legends 3DS, etc.
You know Nintendo's a beast when Sony has a great conference and they poop on them with 2 games - NitemareNS
