saying "look at the wii" is a bad example for what nintendo will do in its future. the wii was screwed from day 1 with its (sorry to say) crappy hardware specs and inability to be truly patched or revamped or anything like that. thus hackers could find a way around every "update" they gave.

now that this is a new generation, nintendo probably upped their hardware capabilities and what can be done with it, so new, tougher anti-piracy measures are sure to be there.

Pirates generally win at the end of the day.

Every console since the PS1 has been hacked and been made pirate-able, and so it's typically safe to assume the 3DS will be as well. However, that does not mean there will not be some really hard-core AP measures for the hackers to go through first. I'd be pretty certain to assume that they will take a page from the 360 and make sure the pirates at the very least can not use the online, which would cut down piracy a lot more than people give it credit for.

Face it, piracy will always happen. The only thing companies can do is put in anti-piracy measures that help soften its blow.

And those blows don't even hit hard. Despite how succeptible the DS was to piracy, the actual game sales made piracy rates look like a minority. The PSP on the other hand...

Also, pirates need the system to pirate games for it, so Nintendo gets money either way. Less money possibly, but it's money nonetheless.

I don't think piracy hurts companies as much as they claim. When you have the ability to play any game for free you play a lot more games than you would normally pay for, so the numbers are way off in that instance.
