how do they make it 3d with no glasses?

i used to always think "what if at movies they but a giant polarized lens in front of the movie? then no glasses."

then i see the 3ds looks like the top screen is one flat plastic piece. is this how it works?

it will probably how they do those picture thingy? i dont know of people remember but in the 80's 90's like cereal, candy use to come with "toys" sometime (usually during promotions for movies/shows) and they were those 3d types.

And if thats the case looks like ill never use the 3d function because they would irritate my eyes just by looking at it for like 5 seconds.

You realize that 3D movies work by having each lens in the glasses polarized in a different direction, right?
