There are videos ou there, where the 3d can be seen somewhat.

youtube google search and I found some out there. The one video that really showed the 3d a bit was one where Pikmin was shown and flowers towering above them showed off the depth nicely. Even in video form. Sorry I don't have a link. I was just looking all over today and kind of stumbled on to videos/ But they are out there, usually with the model scolding the person for filming the demos :) Anyway, you can see the effect in video form. Of course it's not like having it in front of you. But I was impressed knowing video wasn't supposed to show it well. I was surprised it showed it all.

What you're seeing in those videos is depth, and a realistic shifting perspective.
The 3D effect is different, and can't be captured on film.
Perhaps also you could spot when a 3D effect should be, like watching a 3D movie with no glasses, you'll still be able to pick out when somethings supposed to pop out.

This is looking to be one heck of a system.
