EA hints at 3DS online functionality

#1Infamously91Posted 6/19/2010 2:56:37 AM
"An interview with EA producer Ryan Stradling over at the Nintendo E3 Network seems to hint that the online aspects of the console will be more advanced than any Nintendo console yet seen.

Discussing an online friends list that will display, in real-time, what friends are playing, getting live updates including sports scores and even being able to share recent achievements with friends. It also sounds as though the 3DS will offer more robust communication services, with voice and text chat hinted at."

It doesn't seem like it would be so easy to do so anyway. Microsoft's online system has people playing on Microsoft's servers so Microsoft has all the control, I just can't see 3DS games being played on Nintendo servers. It will most likely end up peer to peer just like DS and Wii online. I'm sure some game companies can ban you from playing their game online, but I'm kind of doubting Nintendo will ban your 3DS from ever going online again period.

Ok fair enough, they may not be capable of doing it (if what you say is true). However, Nintendo has been known to do bad stuff to people with "unique" Wii's. There was an update that bricked Wii's if they were umm... "special" in any way.

old but awesome.

however guys, realize that this is EA we're talking about. they usually do things independently when it comes to their games online. such as MoH on the wii, they used EA servers instead of nintendo, meaning no friend codes and all that good stuff. so what they do isnt exactly representative of what NINTENDO will do for their next online system.

I read both of your posts, and I'm guessing you mean pirates. I don't mind pirates in online gaming, most of the time you don't realize they are there. But if you're doing things with your mod like using cheats online, I'd rather them insta ban that player. Also, I hope the people that ruin voice chat online with insults (beyond competitive speech, just down right ignorant), spammers, or racism get banned. And, also hackers.

I've played games online since DC, and believe me these are my biggest gripes to online. Once MS started banning people for these things, and also segregating specific players that had problems with each other my personal online experiences became a bit more pleasant.

I don't want to lead a race in MK, get hit by a blue shell, and have some little kid pass me by and call me the N word as he does it. Unless he calls me Nintendo.
