I have to refrain from talking specifically about the price point. What I can confirm is that, in terms of the production costs, it will cost more than the costs for the Nintendo DS today. Having said that, we believe we will produce enough value worthy of the production cost. We do not think we have to sell the products below cost. - Satoru Iwata

It has also been mentioned by Michael Pachter that Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told him that the 3DS hardware costs "a lot more" to produce than DSi hardware and that they don't intend to lose money on it to offer it at a lower price.

I still say $250

I see the system selling at $250... maybe as high as $300. I know they don't want to sell it at a loss, but there's a point where regardless of what you're offering, the people will ignore...

I really hope it turns out not being too expensive. Because there's fair price and ridiculous price.

Well, yes and no. If it's about as powerful as the gamecube, then ya, up to $250, anything more is overrated. However, if it is as powerful or close to PS3 or 360, then I'd go and pay an extra $100 for it (so $350). I just think that it's around gamecube level, so ya, $250.
