Just had an idea for 3DS Pokemon.

You mean e-mail to GameFreak. Nintendo doesn't make Pokémon games.

what are the odds of actually walking near a random person who not only has the game, but the exact trade you wanted?
anyway i guess it could be a cool feature.

dont even get me started on the improvements the GTS itself needs though.

I think it'd be pretty cool (since it's always connecting to other 3DS nearby) if you could stumble across another trainer walking around... it'd be unlikely that you'd end up near someone who also happens to be in the same location in the game... but it'd be a cool little addition...

Then if you met, you could offer to trade or battle...

Wait, why you need to be in the same location as someone else? The 3DS connectivity works even if the game isn't being played, right? (Which is reason to believe that it has internal memory).

In order to connect with someone else, they have to be close enough to you.
The DS still needs to be at least in sleep or standby mode in order to do that(if that).

Yeah, I believe it has to be at least in sleep mode. However, I'm pretty sure Reggie said that it doesn't matter which game you're playing, the connectivity still works. Meaning that you can download maps, characters, etc. from just walking around. So you know, if you work at a grocery store or something then you're pretty likely to connect with another 3DS at least once a day.

In order for that to happen, they would need to be near you.
Have both of you guys' DS in sleep mode AND be trading one of the 650(about to be) Pokemon with another one.

Yes, but Nintendo could work it like an above poster said, where you could be looking for multiple pokemon rather than just one. Plus, has Nintendo even talked about the range yet? It's fairly obvious that they will make it a bit longer than the original DS, but the fact is that we don't know how long the range is (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though).

I'm more interested in the fact that given the cartridge sizes (2GB when XD was .7GB) and system specs, it will very likely be the first main series game to be full models.
