Do the graphics on the 3DS really rival the Wii graphics?

From the images I've seen I don't think they do. To me they look about the same as the psp graphics. Which I don't have a problem with. Of course I suppose you would really have to see the 3ds in person to determine how good the graphics are.

I think they are slightly above PSP but I will form a full opinion after I play it for myself.

They are rather obviously better than PSP. Some developers have not even had time with the system yet. A lot of games seem like they have been made on placeholder hardware... but the demo's of Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil remove all doubt that this is A LOT more powerful than PSP and can push effects Wii can't.

Pretty much this. In terms of hardware power, the device is most likely more powerful than the Wii. Dunno if it will ever push graphics harder than it, but it will most likely rival Wii's greatest graphics at the very least.

In SA2, it's Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow.

Don't forget it needs to build all geometry, lighting and effects twice, and render a total output of 800x240.
This is just more modern hardware than Wii. It won't be more powerful, but it wil be able to do effects more advanced than the original xbox. Don't forget the Wii is more powerful than the xbox, but few games look like it. Because the wii doesn't sport a modern GPU a lot of developers can't be bothered trying to get the most out of the hardware.

Look at the Resident Evil screens. When you look at the arms, it is clear there aren't as many poly's being pushed as a lot of games on Wii, but the lighting/shader effects are far beyond what any Wii game has pushed.

IGN confirmed Revelations was pre-rendered footage (the controls were limited to panning and zooming), so I wouldn't use it as evidence of what the 3DS is capable of.

tc, you need to go over to youtube and watch the Kid Icarus trailer right now, this thing is way above psp level, most of the titles are already better looking, and that's not even accounting for when developers get used to the system.

Metal Gear Solid 3 (3DS) looks better than both the Ps2 version and Peacewalker for PSP.
