Anti-hacking / piracy is going to be amazing on the 3DS

Not only can Nintendo force firmware updates when you connect to wi-fi, it won't even matter if you don't connect to the internet, walk past someone else with a 3DS and it's bye-bye R4.

There were lots of things that ruined the DS online but none as much as hacking. This should hopefully put an end to that pretty damn quickly.

Homebrew is made of win, though...

I'll always have my good old Lite for that :)

Did a bit of research into homebrew DS games, apparently they were all terrible.

Y'know, there's a reason they can't sell these things...

Putting an end to flash carts = putting an end to cheating?

Fix'd:

Hacking / piracy is going to be amazing on the 3DS

You know, after the DS was announced, there were "DS will never be hacked!!11" threads just like this one. Funny how things ended up.

As for the big scary firmware updates... ever hear what happened to the PSP? And news flash - all it takes is one hack to disable the updating. I could go on, but I've said enough. No system is unhackable.

That will be an option that you can turn off. I'm absolutely 100% sure that they will give you an option to turn off the thing that will force an update if you walk past another 3DS that does have the update.

That's the flaw with anti-piracy, it goes hand in hand with anti-homebrew and, despite what these moderators think, homebrew isn't inherently illegal. The homebrew games suck, do they? I hope you just mean the original ones because I've played alot of great classic PC fpses on it and, with the 3DS' beefed up power, it could probably even run something like Windows XP which would be amazing.

People are going to hack the 3DS. It's simply a matter of time.
