Question about the 3D

#1SSJ NikePosted 6/24/2010 12:05:16 PM
I haven't really read that much into it, but I did watch the video from E3 where the people are showed pikmin and such in 3D. What I want to know is, does things actually appear like they are coming out of the screen? I know obvioulsy this wouldn't be picked up on a camera recording it.

According to many hands-on reviews and impressions, yes.

Nothing pops out (its not a hologram), its more like looking out/through a window

According to most hands on its like a window kind of 3D but some does appear to pop out of the screen.

I think most people know it's not holographic. They just mean that some things appear to be closer to your face than the screen does. Do to how the brain percieves the 3D effects it does appear to be popping out of the screen because your brain percieves it as closer than it really is. The 3DS adds a perception of depth, and apparently the popping off the screen too.

Ever watch the movie Avatar, with Real-D 3D? Exactly like that.

No. 3D movies=Overrated.

If that's what it's like, then I'm not buying.

...Okay, I'm buying, but I'm not happy.

Minus the glasses, plus interactivity, all portable, and stuff like that. Also, the movie Avatar's 3D felt too much like "layers", as if things were separated. This is apparently not like that.

Sounds interesting. Also, relating back to the holographic comment I'm pretty sure no one was expecting that, I was merely wanting to get a sense when compared to the 3D movies.

I don't understand this whole "window" comparison. x_x Could someone explain it in more detail to me?

'cause I think that looking at things with and without a window looks exactly the same...
