3D Video chat is impossible. would require two cameras on the inside of the 3DS.

They're still working on the 3DS, so it's possible for them to add another camera on the inside.

They have two on the outside.
And as LostEntity said, it's still a work in progress.

Um.. what?
If you took the time to read, you would see that I said It's still a work in progress.
Meaning that the prototype they have now could be different than the final product.
MEANING that they could add another camera in the front (or have some sort of attachment) to have that 3D video chat, assuming they decide to follow through with it.

I just had an idea. What if the 2 cameras on the outside were on a hinge? Like they would face the outside. Then you would flip it up so it faces the inside at the user. Then it could have 3D cameras on the inside and outside without the need for 4 cameras. I don't know if it could work, but I just thought I'd share it with y'all. :D
(Also, I'd make some kind of visual, but I have the artistic talent of a brick :/)

Cool idea, but I don't think it would be very practical. Imagine if the hinges snapped off while traveling? :/ and also, it would be hard to install in the first place me thinks.

at the current stage and development of the 3DS's life, the only reason they called it a work in progress is just in case any any E3 user stumbled upon some random ass thing that nintendo didn't expect which breaks the system. for example "Hay, Nintendo! If I hold down both the L and R buttons at the same time when I turn it on, it asks me to install firmware!"

obviously they would expect that, but you get the idea. the design of the 3DS is final.
