Did not care for Tactics Advance at all. I'd much prefer a new Tactics Ogre or a proper sequel to the original FFT.

What? To me it's somewhat the same as a traditional RPG. In the fact that the game itself is story driven, and the point of leveling your characters is to make them become stronger, showing more power within the gameplay itself.

If you call this boring, then you must think all RPG's a boring.

Nope. A JRPG being story driven? lol.

FFT was a bit more mature , a bit more serious , a bit darker , than it's earlier FF counterparts. Then FFTA comes in and pisses all over that. I have no problem with more kiddie or family oriented styles for games , but that was one huge curveball.

I preferred Tactics A2 to the original.

But in that case, it was the lesser of two evils.

I can understand how many people of the FFT series don't like TA and TA2, but I've never played the original for PS. My mom wouldn't buy my games because they were too expensive.

Then please enlighten one. What drives or motivates the player to keep going? Franchise continuity and story go hand in hand. So if you're not motivated to play for the story, is it the gameplay and battle scenes? It can only be one or the other as I see it, because I wouldn't believe for a bit that people play these games for the sidequests/minigames.

I don't see the other selling points for these games, or how else they would attract gamers. So what drives a JRPG then?

The gameplay actually. The stories in so many RPGs are nonexistent , so there has to be some draw to the game.
