making truckloads with the Wii and casual gamers, this sexy beast is announced. To make things better, Iwata is pushing for GOOD 3rd party support and we are getting the long awaited Kid Icarus re-boot day one. Kind-of brings a tear to a Nintendo fanboy's eye. Tears of joy.

Isn't their plan to get all of the casuals then slowly turn them into actual gamers then start releasing the hardcore games?

Yes.
I will never understand why people thought Nintendo was abandoning its core user base.
They laid out their plan for this generation and next very clearly in 2005.

1. Turn people into casual gamers.
2. Make them play more games.
3. Turn them into gamers that play hardcore games.
4. Release hardcore system.
