Is the 3DS' Analog nub better than the PSP's?

I've heard nothing but praises for it, especially in regard to the PSP's nub.

I always liked the PSP nub, so if the slider is better, then it can only be great.

nintendo made it so naturally it is better - its not so much as fanboy as it is factboy

if 3D on portable devices was easy Apple would have beat them to it. not sure this device will do more than serve as replacement for current DS owners Pachter

3DS Slider is much wider and should be 100x more comfortable.

Personally I find it unlikely, as I felt the controls on the DS Lite were pretty bad compared to any series PSP. But I'm sure there will be more then enough here willing to argue that Nintendo can't screw up anything on their portables, other then hinges.

Still, Nintendo has done a fair job of learning from their competition over the years (unlike Sony, who can't seem to manage to figure out stripping major, console selling features like the Linux OS option on the PS3, won't go down well with their consumers). So I should be a fair bit more optimistic.

I thought most people agreed that the DSLite's D-Pad is garbage and barely recognizes diagonals. At least, compared to other Nintendo handhelds and consoles. And I expect the 3DS's slide pad to be better than the PSP nub. They have had several years to improve the nub.

Ifrit, I've never come across someone who plays portables and didn't prefer the controls (especially when it came to comparing the physical controls) to those on the PSP.

**** I've defended the PSP's controls among my friends more then a few times, generally I've heard straight lies from them that only days before. Anyways, good to see other people interested in handhelds willing to discuss things reasonably.

Haha, fanboy friend IRL? It's fun to have people actual discuss handhelds without being fanboyish, I agree. However, watching fanboys bicker is fun too.

Although I do like my PSP 2000's D-pad a lot more. Funny how that ended up. The DS had a decent/good D-pad, PSP 1000 had an unresponsive right directional and generally mediocre D-Pad. The DSlite had a terrible(for Nintendo) D-Pad, the PSP2000 stepped it's game up. The D-Pad became more than usable, it became nice.

Irony at it's finest.
