What's the odds of the 3DS being so hard to find at launch?

I remember the Wii was practically nonexistent at a lot of cities I've visited for the first 12-18 months with how often the stores selling them were sold out.

I can't imagine how bad the availability of the 3DS will be given how well the Wii and the DS have sold. I feel I may have to pre-order. :o

If it's coming out this year, and sources cite that it most likely is, then it'll be nearly impossible to find on store shelves.

Don't expect to find it without pre-ordering. There are many factors that will make te 3DS one hell of a commodity:

1. The first mainstream true 3D device without glasses.
2. The goto childs toy/gadget of holiday 2010
3. It's a Nintendo brand device
4. It's part of the DS series, which holds a lot of brand recognition.

I can go on and on, I wouldn't be surprised to see it on back order for 6 months.

there are no odds. Odds signifies that there is a chance that the 3DS will not be so hard to find at launch. Even given odds of 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999:1 that is still way too high of a chance for the 3DS to be not so hard to find at launch.

I'm gonna try to nab one or two to sell on eBay. I probably won't get one for myself until a certain "accessory" comes out.

lets just hope that nintendo's anticipating this and will have more than enough systems ready for launch. for example i remember when the last harry potter came out and they had 12 million copies ready on launch day. thats what nintendo should do.
