nintendo should've ditched the 2nd screen...

and given us a 4.5'' main, 3D screen. The touch screen is basically going to become an entire screen that will serve no purpose other than showing maps. PSP has no problem showing maps since with the big screen a mini-map in the corner doesn't dominate any screen space.

That screen isn't as big as the PSP's though. So we don't really have space to spare with the 3D screen. And besides, a map on the top screen would make the 3D look weird, wouldn't it? And besides THAT, we'd lose backwards compatibility with the DS, so I can only imagine people would be upset about that.

Lots of DS games are going to feel awkward anyways with the screens being different sizes.

Better to have them feel awkward than not to be played at all. And besides that, I have my DS to play the games if the 3DS is truly too awkward.

Yeah but still it's better than losing backwards compatibility though, GBA games look letterbox on DS lite and regular Game Boy and Game Boy Color are the same for GBA so having that minor difference won't hamper the experience.

I completely agree.

fps's are only fun because you aim with the touch screen... and i'm sure that's what will make 3ds fps's more successful.

I thought so too until I realized that ditching the second screen means ditching backwards compatibility. No thanks.

Playing GBA games on a DS does also feel awkward, and look at how many people rage because they can't play their antique GBA games on a new system.

You know there are alot of other fuctions that just constant maps for the DS. But anyway keeping 2 screens is smart because they wan't BC for the 3DS. Plus 2 screens is another way to "set itself apart" from the other handhelds on the market.
