A/D Online play should use names and accounts, not friend codes

Although if Nintendo makes its so you only need 1 friend code for every game instead of a separate 1 for each game, then I wouldn't mind if friend codes stay.

I would like your friend code to be your "absolute" account ID across the whole system, while your username is just a tag that people see you by. Then you could name yourself whatever you want.

A system like Steam's, though, where you have an absolute account name and can set your nickname would work just as well.

A,
Just like the guy said ,something like only 1 friend code needed for all games(like a universal/system friend code) sort of like the ''WII adress''

for example, les call it 3DS id,so u sort of pick up your friends 3ds id,register it to your friends list and done ,u can keep track of all the games your friends plays and play with him/Chat etc

Even limiting the friend code system to 1 friend code for all games would be silly imo. User names, gamer tags, account profiles; these things exist to make online gaming easier and more appealing to gamers. If someone asks me my gamer tag, I can give it to them easily. If someone asked me for my universal friend code, I'd be like, um, let me check... it's 184720483376 (or whatever). Yeah, really rolls of the tongue.

Not because I want it, in fact I don't play online games so I couldn't care less, I just want everyone else to stop pissing and moaning about it...
