Does anyone expect a 3DSi or 3DSi XL?

Maybe we'll have a 3DSi XL HD 2.

Yeah, there will be revisions. GBA and DS both had four versions.

What exactly they'll add to the 3DS is a mystery, though.

Nailed it. It's funny to see people say 3DS doesn't need X or Y, there's nothing Nintendo can upgrade, 3DS isn't really a new line, etc. No one ever knows what Nintendo is going to do until they do it. The one thing we can say for sure about the 3DS revision is that all predictions for it will be wrong.

They could do a lot of stuff. Of course, since when don't know the exact details, we don't know what's there to upgrade. Per example, the original DS didn't support WPA secured connections, but we didn't know in advance.

As for the 3DS, they could make it smaller in a late revision, like on thiese old mockup pictures:

You know... getting rid of the border around the top screen and having everything on smaller space. Kind of like what the Micro is to the GBA, minus the limitations.

Other than that, something they could also do would be increasing the battery life. After two years, they can probably make the 3DS with smaller parts and thus have more space for a battery. Stuff like that...

It's an excellent point that we don't even know what's in or out.

And as well that Nintendo could do almost anything with it. If you look at the DSi, it's got an insane amount of revisions/new features, to the point of being more like a new platform than a simple revision of an existing one. What's to stop them from doing something similar with 3DS in a few years' time?

Of Course.
