Question about using charger in Europe

hey everyone I am in France right now on vacation and I was hoping to use my 3ds, but it appears that the charger doesn't work with the outlets here. I'm using one of those converter things so that all my american appliances will charge and work, but it curiously doesn't work with my 3ds or my brothers dslite. Is there any advice you guys could give me? I've been thinking getting one of those things you can plug into your car that has american outlets, any idea if that will work?

Thanks.

Buy a charger for the outlets there, because the DC current the AC adapter outputs to the system should be the same no matter what the input voltage is.
