Question about "remakes"

#21RealistStylePosted 7/6/2011 7:15:10 PM
Alot of people hate on RE mercenaries for being a port of 2 "free" games. I say I love the game and would have paid 60 bucks to ensure PAID DLC was coming for it. People are going to hate. That's what the internet is for.... and porn.

One thing to note... I could add the most minor thing to something and call it the most definitive version. Does that constitute reselling the item for full price?

It depends on what the people want. If what you add brings the game into huge demand again, and it sells for full price without a problem, then you have your answer, don't you? With OoT and SF64 of course they added much, much more than the most minor thing, which is why it's selling like crazy even after all this time. Then again there are some self-entitled whiners who want everything to sell for $0.99-10 and anything over that is highway robbery. These people usually need to get a real job and leave their paper routes.

Lol @ "With OoT and SF64 of course they added much, much more than the most minor thing,"

It's so untrue especially with Starfox. Shouldn't even comment on your typical "GET A JARB" comment. I have a job and I don't endorse exuberant spending. If I see something that isn't worth the money and I really don't care for it or there are cheaper options I will go with that. Then there are other people in the world that of course aren't as lucky as you and I but I won't even go there.

Anyways, this will be my last comment because its coming down to just attacking people like usual.

1. Ocarina of Time is one of my favourite games ever, and I'm happy to pay money to own it on as many systems as I can.

2. It wasn't just ported, or even just lightly touched. The graphics have been completely overhauled, the controls fine-tuned, and the 3D effect is actually both subtle and impressive.

3. Being portable is definitely a strong incentive for me to own it. While I do perform the bulk of my gaming at home, I'm not home all the time, and I can take my 3DS with me anywhere (which I do for Play Coins and Street Passes). Whether I'm on break at work or waiting in the lounge of a dentist's office, I can bust out my 3DS and play one of my favourite games ever in it's best ever incarnation, and THAT is amazing.

Copy/paste for Starfox 64 as well.

Also, yes, you're crazy.

And to anyone doubting the SUBSTANTIAL overhaul to the graphics, look no further than this screenshot comparison gallery:
