I'm contemplating on whether or not I should buy a Japanese 3DS...

Well I should be getting some money soon(or later). I was going to buy a PS Vita, though nothing seems to interest me. I would buy a JPN 3DS, though I don't know the pros or cons. Can anyone with a Japanese 3DS list the pros and cons for me?(it doesn't really matter if you have one or not)

Just offhand --

- You're limited to Japanese software and eShop.
- System and games will be considerably more expensive (if you're importing).
- No system warranty (again, if importing). Any defects, you're stuck with.
- Access to a ton of games (and applications and such) NA and EU will never see.

Really, you can't return it to where you bought it(in my case, play-asia)?

To add on to the first point;

Games come out faster, or some ONLY in Japan. (Prof. Layton as example. It was launch.)
3DS eShop and VC have better offerings. (16 GB titles and 13 or 14 3DS download titles.)

I say, if you can speak/read Japanese, you'd be better getting off a Japanese 3DS.

I've never had a problem with anything from Play-Asia, so I'm not too sure how you'd go about with defects and all that, but they do offer warranty and exchanges.

As for the nintendo warranty, you still have access to it and all that, it's just more of a pain when you're overseas. (There's a message about it somewhere. Vague memory of reading it when I got my 3DS)

wait, edit: i take that back. (just woke up, still half asleep)

Warranty doesn't cover overseas usage, so if something happens you're screwed basically. You could probably argue that it occured in Japan, etc etc, but yeah.

I say wait for the hombrew community to fix this problem. No reason to give nintendo more money on top of the over priced and now poorly built 3DS.

Also wait because if they come out with a new model it may be region free. they are just stupid enough to do this like this is a feature they are adding like it should have been there from the begining.

Highly unlikely to happen as it will royally piss off early adopters.
