Netflix: Full Screen?

#1BossBangPosted 7/14/2011 9:04:46 PM
i decided to test out the netflix app with some spongebob, but the video streaming doesnt fill the screen. i get black bars on the left and right of the screen. Is this the way it is for all videos or just this particular one?

I really hope not. Even the netflix app on my 2nd gen ipod touch can full screen spongebob, and it looks a lot sharper. I hate feeling like im playing some crap dsiware.

When I watched 1000 Ways to Die, it was somehow in full screen.

I'm watching a movie now on full screen so I guess it depends on the program.

I'm guessing Spongebob was made for older, square-shaped TVs(full screen).

The 3DS screen is wider. Any TV show/movie that is only in Full-screen will have the black bars at the left and right.

(it's the same thing with DS games on the 3DS)

It's the ratio of the show you're watching. Spongebob is 4:3. Movies are usually 16:9 or some variant.

not all spongebobs are in wide screen in the first place. Almost none of them are.
Maybe only the last season or 2 have been in widescreen.

It all depends on how the TV Shows were shot.

Many Movies and TV Shows are shot in different aspect ratios, such as 1:85, 2:39 (Both are widescreen in a sense. 1:85 will fill the 3DS screen, 2:39 would have bars on top and bottom) or 4:3 (A Square format which was used in old films and TV Shows such as Spongebob)
