Links Awakening DX (3D Easter Egg)

#1GM_Posted 7/15/2011 8:14:29 PM
Sorry if this is old but I believe I may have discovered an easter egg in Links Awakening DX. When you first boot up the game press and hold Start + Select while it loads and it will run in a small screen mode (much like original DS games) inside of a GameBoy Color border screen and the 3D slider lights up allowing you to adjust the 3D effect up and down. This actually makes the Gameboy color border appear 3D while the game runs in the background which I can't for sure tell but I think it's in 3D as well.

Anyone with Links Awakening DX try it now please.

It is old news, but the gesture is appreciated nonetheless.

you just have to hold start OR select. it works for regular Game Boy games too giving an original GB border. Also if your battery is running low using the border the red light on the GB/GBC will flash like they did on the originals.

The red light did not flash on the originals, that's something that came with the phat DS, if I remember correctly. The GB/GBC light would slowly start to dim out and the sound would become "corrupted" and sound funny when the battery was really low.
But that's a nice addition, I had never realized it, thanks :D

yeah, you're right. I remember it flickering but after reading this -

Tanaka: And I even recreated the way the red LED on the left-hand side of the screen cover would grow a little faint when the power started running low. I don't know if anyone will like that, but I paid attention to that as well. (laughs)

- interview about the 3DS virtual console, the man who worked on it confirmed it just dims.

great read by the way.

It adds the slight depth to the screen that the originals had.
