It doesn't disrupt anything of the sort. Try doing it on your 3DS sometime.

*leaves Flame Shield here*

I'm sure someone will need it at some point.

*takes Flame Shield so nobody can use it*

Phones are useless for gaming. If you want real games, get a 3DS.

What would it mean for the 3DS? Let's see...when touch-enabled devices became popular after the DS came out the DS did just fine.

Vita still won't have 3D, and seeing as Android has very few standout games in it's entire library while 3DS will have many by the end of the year; I don't think it's an issue. Further, smartphone gaming is crippled heavily for most genres with poor controls; and you will never get the Nintendo games on them that 3DS is getting, nor will you get as many good professionally developed Japanese games from 3rd parties.

It just can't compare. At all.

Using a 3D enabled touch screen phone won't work well button wise. Placing your finger between your eyes and the screen disrupts 3D visuals, so the games would be limited to motion sensing.

This. 3D smartphones won't even make a dent in the 3D gaming market.
I can't wait for Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2,
Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kirby Mass Attack, Kirby Wii, and Skyward Sword!

Android is trash for games and can barely run games smoothly that a generation old iphone can, and this is coming from an Droid Incredible owner. Now Apple making a no glasses 3d product would be more threatening. But 3DS won't exactly suffer, it would mean it would have to shift most of it's marketing to pure gaming.

It's interesting....but nothing that I'm all that excited over....I don't need that "fancy" of a phone...I use a phone to call people and text people....that's it. First there's that phone that came out recently that's dual screen that looks similar to the DS...and now a phone that's doing glasses-less 3D.

Also, The smudges from your fingerprints would eventually disrupt the 3D. Granted, you can clean the screen, but it's an obvious design flaw. Touch screens get scratched and smudged. Remember what Lord Iwata said about why the touch screen wouldn't be 3D on the 3DS?
I dunno, but you can read my review. It's like a demo [of The Sims 3]

There is now a phone that can take and display 3D pictures and video without the glasses:

My question is how long will it be until phones can play 3D games and what will this mean for the 3DS? For me, I think it may be inevitable, and if does happen, it would practically erase the thing that sets the 3DS apart as it is only aspect of the 3DS that compares favorably to the VITA.

There have been glasses-free 3D phones for a while.

obstructions in front of a 3d screen like in the 3ds and evo 3d don't break the 3d unless there's popout.
the reason people might think it would is because it does on cross-eyed 3d, but this type of 3d screen works in a more natural way.
